Kid update

I thought it might be fun, at the beginning of this new school year, to do a quick update on all of my kids. They are all growing up so fast, I can hardly believe it!
Whitney is growing up so fast! She likes to think that she is a lot older than she really is.(: She is totally into anything cowgirl right now. She loves fashion, softball, Tim McGraw, and even though she won't admit it, I think she is finally starting to like boys. (She is totally going to say, "Mommmmm" and roll her eyes when she reads that.) She has decided that she needs to wear a hat to and from school each day...it's the fashionista in her. She is sooooo past the Jonas Brothers, and Hannah Montana. She has moved onto Tim McGraw and Rascal Flatts. She loves to be on the computer! Mostly to check her new e-mail and to play around with her blog. Whitney loves to laugh. She has a beautiful smile, that will get even more prettier when she gets her braces on in a couple of weeks. I can hardly believe that she is going to be in junior high next year! She will always be my little chubby baby. Katelynn is our fun, loving child (when she wants to be). She is into pretty much anything that Whitney is into.(: Kate is our little giggler. She loves to heely, play with her webkins, and sing and dance to music (mostly Taylor Swift). She is great with Spencer, and loves to frequently pick him up and take care of him. She can find anything that you are looking for. She is the bed maker in our house, because she can do it so well. She is our little mathematician and scientist. She loves to do well in school and really likes playing the piano. She always wants to know where everyone is. So if you are away from the house, expect a ton of calls from Kate. Record amount of calls while Mike and I were on a date: 27. She is our little worrier, and we love her for that.(:
Dalaney is our little Diva! She used to be so sweet, but lately she has turned into a little monster (I mean that in the nicest way possible). Dalaney loves to laugh. In fact she has the most awesome fake laugh that I've ever heard.(: She loves to swing her hips while she walks and flip her hair over her shoulder. Her favorite word is "perfect." As in: "I am so perfect!, My outfit is perfect!, My hair looks so perfect!" She is in love with Conner G., and is not afraid to tell him how hot he is.(: Her best friend in the whole world is Halle S., and they are pretty much one and the same! Dalaney loves Hannah Montana. In fact, she has watched the movie about 20 times since we bought it about a week ago. She still loves her thumb (it is constantly in her mouth...she even talks to us with it in) and she still carries her blanket with her everywhere. She is our dancer. She loves to dance and she has amazing rhythm, considering who her parents are. (;
Ethan is still very much our little cowboy. He wakes up in the morning, goes to the bathroom, and then puts on his wranglers. He completes his outfit with his boots and "cowboy belt." He is our little stinker. He will do anything if he knows you don't want him to.(: He is very stubborn, which can be good and bad. He has quite the temper, so if you cross his path, watch out! He is constantly making us laugh with his cowboy ways. He knows the difference between a heifer and a bull. He will do anything to ride in "daddy's truck" to go see the cows. He loves to ride his stick horse, Silver, around the house...and he is pretty good at it too. He is terrified of dogs, but has no problem with cows.(: He likes to copy everything we say, which can be pretty funny at times. He'll say, "whoa, nice hair!" or "dang it" or "for cryin' out loud." He keeps us on our toes that is for sure!
Spencer is our sweet little baby! He is so content and happy ( I knew Heavenly Father wouldn't send me another Ethan)!(: Spencer loves to laugh and smile. He is so mellow and very patient. He loves his big brother even though he has been slapped and bit numerous times by him. ( all within seconds time...trust me!) He loves to be kissed on his cheeks. If you start to kiss him, he will move his cheek in closer, just so you will keep kissing it. He loves to talk and he slobbers a ton. He can roll onto his belly, but hasn't figured out how to roll back to his back. he is finally on a schedule, which I love! He is also a total thumb sucker. I can't imagine our family with out him.

The Prince and Princess...

Dalaney was playing with Halle and Maddie the other day and I went down stairs to check on them. They usually play dress up, so I wasn't suprised to see Halle in a Princess gown. I was suprised to see Dalaney in some of her pants (she had been wearing a skirt). Not only did Halle have a princess dress on, she also had toilet paper coming off the back of her crown. I watched them for a minute, and realized that they had their movie paused at the wedding scene, and they were acting it out with the movie. Dalaney was the Prince, and Halle was the Princess. I made such a big deal about the toilet paper, because I thought it was so cute, that Halle took it off before I got the pictures. These two are so funny!(;

My two thumbsuckers

I walked into my bedroom the other day, and saw these two laying by eachother. Of course, the both had their thumbs in their mouths. None of my other kids ever sucked their thumbs (Ethan is a social thumb sucker (: he only does it when he's trying to bug me.) Anyway, I had to get a picture of them.

Our Sunday Drive

Last Sunday, we decided to drive up Skyline drive. We drove it years ago when we only had the girls. When you get to the top, it feels like you are on top of everything, and you can get really cool pictures. It was fun "4 Wheelin'" with the kids. It is kind of a rough road, so their were lots of bumps and turns. Finally we got to the top and got some fun pictures.

Pretty good for a self timer shot huh!

First Day of Kindergarten

I can't believe that my baby girl is in Kindergarten! Dalaney was so excited to start school that I am excited for her too. It definately was time for her to go.(: Yesterday, we had a little picnic for all of the kindergarteners in our ward. We have about 19 kids in our ward starting school this year. Dalaney has a fun class, and I am just really excited for her. Three down, two more to go.(:

Most of the Kindergarteners in our ward.

So excited to be going to school.

The First Day of School

Whitney and Katelynn were so excited for the 1st day of school...almost as excited as me.(: Anyway, I can hardly believe that Whit is in 6th grade and Kate is in 4th grade. Am I getting old or what!?! Dalaney will start Kindergarten next week, so I will post her pics then.

Annual Back to School Fashion Show

Every year, before school starts, we have our annual fashion show. Of course the girls totally love it...who doesn't love showing off a bunch of new clothes!(;

Ethan modeling his clothes.

The fabulous audience.(:

The Smith family pyramid.

and what's a sunday night without a good old buckin' bronco rally.(: Yes, those are Whitney's legs flying in the air.(:

Mike's a goin' huntin'

So Mike decided to go bow hunting again this year. I was hoping that he would get something so that he would be done for the season, but...he didn't. He did get to see a lot of elk, and a guy in his group did get one, so maybe next time he'll be luckier. My kids think that it is awesome when he goes hunting, because he borrows his brothers 4 wheeler and they get to ride it. I have to admit, they are a ton of fun!

Utah County Fair

Just because we didn't get enough fair time at the S.L. county fair, we thought we would visit the Utah County fair.(: Whitney and Katelynn are in a 4-H sewing group taught by our good neighbor Jenny (she does awesome!). Anyway, they entered some things into the fair that they had sewn, so we went to check it all out. They both did an AWESOME job.

They both entered their cut skirts.

Kate with her cute doodle book.

Whitney with the things that she made that are going to state; her bag, stuffed frog, and her doodle book.

and, of course we had to stop and see all the animals.(:

Salt Lake County Fair (Overload)

I think that every year since we have been married, we have gone to the Salt Lake County Fair. When we were first married, some of Mike's sisters were still showing animals at the fair. Then when they didn't show anymore, Mike was asked to judge. And now we are going on our 3rd year of Whitney showing, and this was Katelynn's first year. Wow, time flies. As you all know, I am a HUGE fan of the fair (Ha Ha). There is nothing like chasing after your kids constantly (there are scary people at the fair), constantly washing the dirt off of faces and hands, flies swarming you, and this year to top it all off, we had huge dust storms, which are quite fun at a dirt filled fair.(; Atleast this year, I didn't have morning sickness, so that was a plus.(: The girls did great this year. Whitney is constantly improving, and Katelynn did great for her 1st time showing. Katelynns steer took 3rd in its class, and Whitney took 4th in fitting and showing with her pig, and she took grand champion in fitting and showing in the round robin, which is showing a steer, pig, and sheep. Mike looks forward to the fair all year long, and I look forward to when it is over. It was a good year though, and I am proud of Mike and the girls for all that they did this
year.
