Summer Softball

This year ended up being a little different than past years for Whitney and her softball team. Every year she has played, she has ended up going to state with her team and winning or at least placing. This year her team was kind of non-existant. She had an amazing coach, but half her team just wouln't show up to the games. Whitney got to the point, where she didn't want to go either. Call me old fashioned, but I made her go. She had made a commitment to her team, and she wasn't going to bail on them, like some of the other girls did (including the main pitcher.) Anyway, it was a hard season to sit through, but I think Whitney really grew from the experience. She really learned how important team work is. So I guess it was all good for something.(:
Her last game of the season was awesome! They were playing with 7 players, so they automatically got 2 outs each inning. That makes winning nearly impossible (as we found out too often this season). Anyway, they were behind 12 to 2. Whitney's coach put her in to pitch. Whitney would love to be a pitcher, and she is pretty accurate, but she is super slow. So I about died when she told me she was going to pitch. Well, it totally threw the other team off. She struck out her first batter. The next batter hit right to her and she got her out at 1st. And then she struck out the next batter. It was enough to rile up her team. They still lost, but the final score was 12-11. It was awesome! Awesome Coach Guyman!

After the season ended, she was picked up by her friends team, the Lakers, to go to State. She played in Springville for the tournament, and did an amazing job. She loved the Lakers and I think she finally felt like she was part of a team. She hit everytime she got up to bat and she fielded really well too. She loved every minute...me on the other hand was a stressed out basket case the whole time. It was still awesome! The last day of the tournament they ended up playing 4 games right in a row. They were totally pumped up, and they ended up winning State! It ended up being an amazing tournament.

Peyton and Whitney
Some of her fans! Grandpa and Grandma Robbins
